After doing some reflection the other day, I realized Thanks You’s are in order! Why you may ask? Well for starters La Vie Locale is read by thousands of Francophiles, Paris Lovers, and wide-range of readers from all over the world every month.
Sometimes it is easy to get in the day to day motions and not really take the time to appreciate the process of where you started, your growth, and where you’re going.
Sometimes it is easy to get in the day to day motions and not really take the time to appreciate the process of where you started, your growth, and where you’re going. It feels like it was just yesterday that I decided to start a blog and I had no idea what I was doing. I had been living in Paris for over two years at the time, wasn’t posting on Facebook, didn’t have Instagram, and was barely keeping up with my family and friends updates emails. Once I eventually started blogging after tons of hesitation, I instantly got intimidated by all the veteran Paris bloggers.
For quite some time I kept things only for myself, and struggled for a while to decide what my voice, or spin on Paris would be. After a lot of soul searching and researching existing blogs. I decided not to re-invent the wheel, but to stick to what I know best- exploring Paris, providing practical tips to navigating the city, and learning the ropes to living here long term. So I did just that. I must admit, in the beginning I was so impatient to see rewards like more site traffic and thousands of IG followers often associated with blogging, but I quickly realized these aspects aren’t the most important.
“I’ve learned there are many rewards that present themselves in other forms along the way that make all your countless hours in front of a screen so worth it!”
I’ve learned there are many rewards that present themselves in other forms along the way that make all your countless hours in front of a screen so worth it! So far some of the biggest rewards have been: emails with questions regarding their potential moves to Paris, update emails from the people who have actually made the leap to move abroad, requests for suggestions on things to do/see during a visit in Paris, hello messages just sharing that they enjoy the content on La Vie Locale, and all the opportunities I’ve had to collaborate with people with similar visions.
These are the rewards that keep me inspired and keep me going. I am so grateful to all our readers, all the shared blog posts, and all the people that have helped me with upping my photo game, logo design, and answering the many tech questions I have.
I’m a looking forward to continue growing La Vie Locale by offering more concrete experiences/services for people visiting Paris through my newest venture- La Vie Locale Experiences. I would also like La Vie Locale to continue to grow our community of contributors. If you live in Paris or have cool stories to share from your trip to Paris, we are always looking for people to share #lavielocale. Don’t be shy, we’d love to hear from you!
