Many friends planning to visit Paris, often ask for advice on places to stay and I feel somewhat limited in first hand recommendations to share. I remember one of my visits to Paris with my mom and sister. We ended up booking a hotel that looked ok online, and it wasn’t too expensive. When we arrived the rooms were much smaller than depicted in their pictures, and the neighborhood (La Chappelle 18eme) ended up being an area we were later advised to stray away from. In attempt to make your accommodation planning more smooth, I have started compiling a list of recommended places to stay from people that have come to visit. Most of the places I have visited personally and would feel confident recommending them to someone looking to visit, or they have been highly recommended by people that have stayed there first hand.
My parents stayed here last July when they came to visit me, and they fell in love with the surrounding area (Canal St. Martin). It’s a small boutique hotel that has been recently renovated last year, and it’s located near Gare de l’est, Canal st martin, and its not too far from Gare du Nord.
My friend and her parents visited and were looking for an apartment that could sleep 3 that was well located. The booked the following apartment through VRBO, and they had nothing but good things to say about this apartment. The owner was very responsive if they had any questions, and provided them with helpful recommendations of things to do in Paris. The apartment is pretty spacious for Paris and I hear the bed is one of the most comfortable beds they had ever slept on.
I visited a friend at her studio apartment she rented during her trip to Paris, for an Apero. It was very well located in the Marais, nearby lots of bars and restaurants. The apartment itself is pretty small, but well organized and fully equipped with a pull out bed, washing machine, stocked kitchen, and a modern bathroom.
I haven’t personally visited any of these hostels, but Hostel World has compiled a recommended list of hostels worth checkin out for a budget traveler.
Paris has a newly arrived Boutique hostel in the 10th arrondissemen, designed by Generator Hostels. It was once an old office block turned into chic contemporary designed hostel. Price Range- 25 euros shared room Double rooms 80 euros.
I will be adding to this list as time goes on, and if you have recently visited Paris and what to share the place you stayed feel free!
